August 30, 2005. Welcome to another PLUG LABEL Newsletter or as our folks in the Bay would say an"Electronic What it do?". It's been a minute since we last jammed your inbox and took up y'alls valuable work time, but we've been real busy. We have the Kero One "Windmills of the Soul" debut LP dropping soon, press in urb magazine, songs featured on the upcoming Scion Mix, In-Stores appearances at Stacks Vinyl in San Diego and Los Angeles aaaaaaaaand a 12'' single with a hip-hop legend (Editor's note: It's not M.C. Brains or a former M.C. Hammer dancer)
Kero One in the house for forever-ever, forever-ever? forever-ever? forever-ever?
After what seems like it took forever Kero One's debut LP "Windmills of the Soul" will finally hit stores soon (Editros' Note: Kinda, sorta, maybe, perhaps). With Kero One fusing golden age hip-hop musings with modern productions techniques and sprinkles of live musicianship this LP will have all our fans happy and glad the PLUG fam-a-lam took thur time. Kero One handles almost the entire production, emcee-ing and even gets loose on the live instrument tip (Funky Accordian Y'All!-just kidding).
FOR MY PEOPLE IN THE FRONT!
ATTENTION SAN DIEGO & CERRITOS:
Kero One & Fam this weekend at STACKS VINYL SAN DIEGO (Satuday @ 3 PM) and STACKS CERRITOS (Sunday @ 3PM). Kero One will be performing upcoming tracks for his album and hanging around afterwards buying doubles of B.E.P.'s "lets get it started".
Franz Ferdiand is down with us !(Editor's Note: No they ain't)
Yesh Yesh y'all. Just in case you haven't checked your local mega-book store or have been too busy reading Harry Potter books we got a nice little review of Kero One's "Keep It Alive" in this month's URB (Franz Ferdinand cover). Thanks to (KERO WHATS THE WRITER'S NAME?) the check is in the mail.
Wanna buy a brand-new whip?
Our homies the Oakland Faders have been selected as the 2005 Scion mix-off champs. What does that mean? Catch Plug label releases in the 2005 Scion mix-cd wherever cars are being bought/hip-hop is getting sponsored. (Editor's Note: Dj Platurn and Dj Spair maybe actually too tall to fit into a Scion).
All for one...GRAND PUBA!:
Ahhhh yes! We've been keeping this little chunk of news on the low-low until it was offiicial. Now that is, we can humbly announce that PLUG LABEL is set to drop a brand new single by GRAND PUBA! With productions handled by Kero One and a remix provided by Dj King Most this is going to a great party-starter and drink-spiller in the coming months. Grand Puba was a founding member of not only of Brand Nubian and Masters of Ceremony but has released 2 classic solo L.P.'s and has recently worked with everyone from Dan The Automator, to Missy Ellliott, to Beanie Segal. We're still in a daze y'all.
Keep those windmills of the soul alive
